Some of you may of heard me mention this in game, but most of my kill whoring comes from predicting the spawns and moving to get into a position that makes the enemies run into my sights.

Whilst everyone develops a feel for spawns overtime, I found a great series on Youtube which actually explains how the spawns work and what dictates who spawns where.  The series is centered on Domination, but the logic applies to all free spawning game modes, including TDM and KC.  It adds a generic base understanding of the spawns which, when combined with your general experiences, help stop you spawn dieing / help you spawn kill.

Below is the series of guides.  He does one for each specific map so, if you're a sad act like me, you can watch them all.  However, the key one really is just the general overview guide he does first, but then maybe watch 1 of the individual maps to see it in action.  This series has really helped me out and improved my awareness a lot, so figured it might help others here too!

This is awesome and I haven't even watched it yet! I have always used spawns in Dom, which is why I am playing HC Dom while trying to snipe. Been surprising myself how well I can do on some of the larger maps like this. Honestly until recently I have mostly played FFA. Watch me play sometimes when I revert back to my old habits and you can see why my K/D is so low! I was absolutely beast at FFA in MW2. Never called in a nuke but I could go 30-3 quite often. I played a bit of the other modes to unlock the challenges and such, but never got good at them. It was just grind out 50 TDM wins. MW3 never played anything but FFA. Hated it in BO1 but I got decent at TDM mostly because of the maps I think. I had them pretty well figured out. Really got into Dom in BO2 though. That was my main mode in that game and I learned to cap any flag in it solo. Learned to read the spawns and such, got good at most of the objective games. Loved Hardpoint. Got really good at defense as well. So basically now I had two play modes. Sit still and hold down a specific area or constantly moving and killing anything that moved. Wasn't until this game that I got good at TDM and am getting better, but I just can't figure out the spawn system. and how to use it without the objectives to work around. I really can't wait to watch this video!

BTW, would love to hear some stories about other clan members progressions through the games and how they learned their current play style. I remember one of the first times I played with Agkana hearing him say Ghosts was his first COD game and that's why he was always on it and smiled. Couldn't help remembering my first experience with MW2 and how much I played that game through every single DLC. As my first FPS it was so exciting and new playing against other people and I never cared about dying or sucking, just how amazing everything was "Holy potato I just shot that guys C4 as he threw it and killed him!" "I just killed a guy with a care package?" Even better the first time I killed myself with one because it bounced off a corner of something. I couldn't believe it! Now I gotta go look up my stats on that game.

The TDM and KC applications aren't as easy to read as in Dom.

However, what you can do is work out where they aren't going to spawn by using the principals here, letting you then best guess where they will. The spawn points shown on the individual maps are basically the spawn points for all respawn modes, it's just in TDM the spawn to flag logic is removed which makes it much less predictable.

You won't always get it right, if you've noticed my TDM scores, I will go games where I only get 5 or 6 kills, which is generally a sign I've read the spawns all wrong and have chased empty areas. But when you get it right you can dominate.

Ash we need to sticky this! I have to say the videos are better than I had hoped. The guy speaks clearly and intelligently. He explains things in a manner that is very easy to grasp. I could see what he was talking about in his clips and the tests he puts for each map. I wish he did more tests I rather liked them. When I was playing a few games this morning I noticed myself thinking about the spawns. I imagine in TDM and KC you anchor spawns like in Dom but other than that there is no other determining option the closest spawn to a teammate that isn't blocked by line of sight? Funny thing is, watching him play and other guys who dominate the game is I always think "Well, thats how I play and I always get shot in the back!" and now I fully understand why that happens. Going to watch all the videos, probably multiple times
